expressive type journal

For this project, I first worked on creating a selection of artwork using different mediums. I worked with acrylic paint using different tools to work with the paint. I used a knife, brush, and sponges to apply paint to the canvas. I created collages using newspapers, painted papers, and cardboard boxes. I created assemblages using coloured wooden blocks, plastic packaging, and embroidered muslin. I took random pictures of things outside. After creating these artworks I took them into Photoshop to crop, edit, and colour-correct them. I looked at each of them and thought of a word or letter that went with the artwork and found interesting ways to integrate them into the artwork. I used a combination of Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop to create unique letter arrangements and put them into the artwork. A vital part was really integrating the type into the artwork so they felt like one piece.
